Presently, there is a delay of 4 years for the processing of citizenship applications for those who received Residence Questionnaires in many parts of Canada. Due to a backlog of applications, thousands of applicants will have to wait a very long time for their citizenship, which can have varying negative effects, such as travel hardship, job losses, and a pure and simple lack of citizenship.
